Pregnant during Hurricane season?

I live in Central Florida, and it seems anytime something big happens, it is always ruined by a HURRICANE! This hurricane season, we are having our baby shower on June 14th and we will be traveling down to Miami for it. I really hope nothing ruins that. But my MAIN concern is that my baby is due Sept. 12! Hurricane season doesn't end until November! What happens if a hurricane hits at that time? They are predicting a pretty bad season. I live in a mobile home, which aren't exactly the safest during a hurricane. So where would I be told to go? What if I go into labor during the hurricane? The hospital is almost 45 minutes away! We also have a 3 year old daughter. Will we be put in a hospital just in case? Will she be able to come? Or do they only allow a certain amount of people? I'm starting to get a little concerned...anybody know these answers?

You never can tell with the weather. I also live in Central Florida. My sis-in-law had her baby during Hurricane Charley three weeks early due to the change in atmospheric pressure. The whole family was on alert that summer. You must begin to make arrangements with your family and friends now. No, unless the conditions were devastating, the whole family is not invited to stay in the hospital with you. In a moblie home, you will be of the first evacuated if it looks like we are really going to get hit. Know ahead of time where the closest evacuation center is. If you can choose, one closer to the hospital would probably be better. Chances are, we will have another boring season without any surf in the Gulf, but you have to be prepared!! Babies and hurricanes come when they feel like it-always have a hurricane kit ready for any event.
