my guinea pig is due to have her babies on 1st July. She seems to be drinking a lot of water. She is eating normally and isn't showing any signs of toxemia. Is it normal for her to drink so much during the later stages of her pregnancy?

  1. It's normal. While a guinea pig is pregnant they need extra vitamin c, so they begin to drink more. I would recommend putting vitamin c drops in her water, if you don't already do that. I do it on a regular bases for my piggies. Best wishes, me and my 2 guinea pigs Hope and Remmy

  2. well my guinea pig drinks lots of water too! no wodner he always pees on me == i think its ok cause its cleaning inside of him dont worry.

  3. as she has to keep the babies alive she is drinking lots of water to keep them moist and wont dry out make sure she has lots of water in her cage

  4. It is important to realize that while your guinea pig is pregnant she will need to drink lots of water because the babies take some of her nutrients from food and water for them to survive. The babies will be born as normal when they are due. Good luck!

  5. Guinea-pigs drink a lot of water when pregnant. It is perfectly normal to drink around half a bottle to a whole bottle. If she drinks more, this could lead to a massive litter. The average sized litter is around two to five. Normally they would have two for their first prgnancy, two for a second, three for the third. Although the chances of a big litter on the first pregnancy are low, it can still happen. They can be handled and hour after they are born, and the next day you can s*x them. Congradulations, Good luck with the new arrivals.

  6. maybe your guinea pig is drinking alot of water because she is making her little babies get nutrients they need from the water.your guinea pig sure is smart man.good luck with the newborn guinea pig babies.
