ok SO my fiancee and I had planned to start trying for a baby but we found out that yesterday I'm pregnant via EPT test. I just started back at my old job and do NOT get benefits from kaiser until October :(

This is my first pregnancy, what do i do?

I tried calling planned Parenthood and they literally treated me like I'm some "crack w***e" who only wants an abortion. I am so upset & furious with them. Now i don't know where to go who to turn to or what to do!!!

I don't have insurance and i cannot afford high medical costs right now.

I will have insurance full coverage in october so i will be able to finish up my prenatal care there.

How many dr appts will i have to have before october?

How do i know if kaiser through my work will cover the pregnancy/delivery?

  1. apply for state medicaid because some insurance companies do not cover pre existing which since you are already pregnant that is what they will consider it.

  2. you can apply for medicaid it will pay for your doctor appt and delivery and you will have 1 appt. until you are about 7 months and then it will go to 2 congrats

  3. 1. Does your fianci know he's going to be a father?

    2. Does your fianci know "if" he's the father?

    3. I'm sure between you, him and your family, you can come up with enough money to pay for the first couple of prenatal visits.

    4. Kaisor has a ton of coverage for you, just log onto kaiser.com and look at what's offered.

In the meantime, stay clear of smoking, get a blood test to confirm the results of your EPT test. Do not take any over the counter medications whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eat right, sleep right and you'll see your stressing over nothing. That's unless you don't want the baby. You didn't make that clear. But having a baby is a life changing event, wether planned or not. Be prepared to get lots of guidence and up front data so you can be better prepared for the adjustments in front of you.

  4. try calling your local health department, they can set you up on medicaid and help with other things.

  5. have u tried for pregnancy Medicaid ? it covers all ur visits until u get insurance or if u dont get insurance it still covers

  6. honestly? none. start reading books like "what to expect when you're expecting" and "great expectations". Don't tell your employer that you are pregnant or gets tests done through a doctor!! if you do that, your insurance may view your pregnancy as a "pre existing issue" and not cover your pregnancy at all. Once you're pregnant, that's that! Think back in the old times where women were pregnant, went about their days, never saw a doctor, and had their husbands or Mother in Laws deliver the baby. in October, after you have insurace, go get an "official test" and start your prenatal then. You should be fine. IF you have any complications between now and then, go to the hopsital! Don't tell them that you're pregnant, let them tell you! They can't deny you service and they'll bill you and usually allow you to either make payments or make adjustments according to your income.

  7. I haven't been too happy about how I was treated at Planned Parenthood either. It's too bad.

Don't worry too much about appointments before October. Most obstetricians won't see you until you are 2-3 months along anyway. At most, you'll have one appointment between now and then.

You'll want to take a look at your insurance plan and find out if they have any pre-existing clauses. They sometimes do for pregnancy. Otherwise, all the information should be in your summary of benefits, which your work should provide to you.

  8. Datz da same problem dat I had..No insurance...I just went to state (u gonna need proof fro doctor saying dat u are pregnant, tell da secretaries dat u have no insurance but u need da papers of da pregnancy for proof) after u go and u get ur insurence they will pay for everything u got done in da Dr. office before u got it.... Good Luck!!

  9. Calm down! Everything is going to be ok :) I know its a lot to handle but don't stress yourself out.

If your company doesn't offer health insurance, seek out your local Department of Human Services office ( you can find it in the the phone book) They will cover any pregnant woman regardless of income up until you have the baby. Therefore it will cover all dr. appointments, needed ultra sounds, and the delivery and hospital stay for you and the baby.

After the baby is born, then they will take your income into consideration for eligibility.

Dont go to planned parenthood, go to a OBGYN office, pretty much anywhere accepts medicaid. And if you want, you can try out a few doctors until you are comfortable with one. At the beginning of your pregnancy you will only have to go to the doctor every 4 weeks or so.

And don't wait until you get the medicaid to go to the doctor, that can take weeks. Go to the doctor now, let them know you are uncovered but are in the process of applying for medicaid. They will bill you the expenses, but medicaid will pick that up once you are accepted.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!

  10. You should only need 2 appointments, once a month until your further.  And you shouldn't need an ultrasound either.  The first blood tests may cost a little extra, and you might be able to squeeze by with only 1 appointment as long as everything is going well.  Because of the business of the doctors in Canada I won't be able to get into a doctor until September 10th, and I will be 14 weeks then, I haven't had a single blood or urine test...it's kind of frustrating but that is the price paid for free health care.  If I were high risk things would be different. (I have had 2 ultrasounds, but they are free here).  Good luck with your pregnancy.

  11. Wha, Wha you should have thought about all this BEFORE you allowed yourself to become pregnant!  Your insurance won't cover you in October because you are already pregnant!  You will have to go to a clinic and make payments!

  12. First thing you do is start prenatal vitamins.

Next, determine how far along you are.  When was the first day of your last period?  Now count how many weeks since that day.

The doctor usually doesn't see you for your first prenatal appointment until about 8 weeks, because pregnancies are unpredictable in the early stages.  I would call and book an appointment with your doctor as soon as you know the day you will be covered by insurance.

Obviously, if you think something is wrong get help right away, but if everything is going smoothly youshould be fine waiting until your insurance kicks in.

    Good luck and congrats!!

  13. Fortunately - most women don't have their first appointment until around 7 - 9 weeks.  Depending on how far along you are, that should bring you right to October.  If you have to, just stall and make the doctor's appointment on the first day your coverage starts.  It's not like you are waiting until the 3rd month to get your first check up.

As far as finding out what Kaiser covers - you can discuss this with either your insurance agent or human resources department at work.  If you do not want to tell your work you are pregnant yet (I wouldn't until you are 3 months), just ask them if you can have an enrollment package to review for your own personal reasons.  If they ask questions, just tell them you want to see what this insurance covers to decide if you will sign up or not.

Just take it easy, for the babies sake, and you should be alright.  Go to your local Walmart and pick up some kind, any kind of over the counter prenatal vitamins in the meantime.  Those are very important for your babies health.

    Good luck and congrats.

  14. You are fine.  Usually doctors do not do much of anything till you are past 12 weeks.  So just take prenatal vitamins, and avoid harmful foods.  Then as soon as October rolls around go in for your first visit.  Just remember to take your prenatals every day.  You can get them at the drug store.

  15. Just to clarify, federal law bars pregnancy from being considered a preexisting condition.  So you shouldn't have to worry about that aspect.  There is a good article regarding being pregnant with no insurance, maybe that will help you!  It's at http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/... - good luck!!

  16. once you get confirmation from a dr. you can get medicaid. usually medicaid will pay for pregnancy no matter what you make. just get a note from the dr. with your due date and send it in with the application

  17. october is only a month and a half away just stay working and you will get your benefits and all that, you will only need to go for 1-2 docs appt before then and just stay working through your pregnancy so then your benefits are still there later in the pregnancy you will need to go to the docs alot after that good luck and congrats to you !!! and btw doesnt your fiance/husband/bf get family work benefits ????
