Question:

Pregnant rats, litters, and births?

I earlier posted a question about my rats being pregnant, and they were. One of my girls had her first litter earlier, and she has had seven babies. Is it possible that she will overfeed them? And how do I know if she is stimulating them to go to the toilet or not? I know how to do it, so should I do it anyway just to be sure? Thanks for the advice if anyone knows!

  1. Here's some good information:

  2. STOP OVER OBSESSING!! Let you Rat do Her thing. the baby's use the bathroom on their own, and the mother cleans it up. The baby's only drink the milk they want to, so that they don`t OVER feed themselves.

  3. just let her do it, she will take care of them, just keep checking up on them and if a few die[like 1 or 2] it is normal some wont survive, if she is eatig them, it means they wont survive. she can take care of it. if more than 2 die you might have to simulate for them to potty but i doubt it, and she will not overfeed them. good luck and just a warning, they will get very loud, my rat had 14 and it was hard to sleep, but worth it =]

    good luck.

  4. the rat will no how to look after the babies not to worry the best thing to do is not disturb them just check on them every now and then it nice to now she had a litter that is so nice hhope it all goes wel and that this helps

  5. you need to just leave her be,she knows how to mother them,if she isn't taking proper care of them, theres not much you can do anyway, there isn't a high success rate in raising baby rats....
