Is there a way to use pregnenalone and eliminate or prevent the side effect of water retention or weight gain?

  1. Not really....

The oral synthetic steroids get their side effects from basically mimicking two hormone groups in the body.

The glucocorticoids....which are partially responsible for regulating sugar/energy balance.  Thus, pregnenalone will increase appetite, increase blood sugar, alter the means by which the liver balances the production of fat or glycogen etc.

Meanwhile it also acts like a minerocorticoid.  This directly influences the kidney's process of balancing sodium and potassium retention/excretion.  The water follows the sodium, so you hold onto sodium and thus the water.

There really isn't a way to alter this in a safe fashion.

You could take a diuretic, which would cause you to excrete more sodium and thus water....but ironically, one of the side effects of most diuretics would be to worsen your blood sugar balance.  You would have a real risk of becoming temporarily diabetic when both medications are combined.

But, with diabetes, you start to pee out sugar, and this drags along water just like the salt also does.  So, you would probably start to lose weight, but this would largely be due to dramatic dehydration.  So that isn't safe either.

I guess the quick answer to your question is "no"

    Sorry

    Cheers
