i have a very very mild case of NF-1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurofibromatosis [nothing like in that picture, i probably have less than 10 of those on my body]) but because its genetic, its a 50% chance my kids would have it (whenever that happens) i was just wondering if anybody knew anything about it, personal experiences would be very helpful. the percentage it would work, the cost... all of that.

i dont want to do it to make like this perfect child and pick out the gender and all of that, i just dont want to risk them getting what i have only because with NF it could be a lot worse than what i have or not as bad.

  1. in vitro can cost up to $10k then pgd can cost up to $7k more. thats $17,000. i'm not sure if your insurence would cover this but ask them. here's a list of genetic diseases they can screen for and NF-1 is one of them. i'm not sure about down syndrom though. look for a clinic and ask them. i'm sure they could answer every single question you could think to ask.
