Preliminary rounds of NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships: Day four - Swimming news

Preliminary rounds on day four of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Swimming and Diving Championships for the Men and Women categories were held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Centre in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The session included the Men and Women’s preliminary rounds of the 200-yard breast-stroke, 200-yard back-stroke, 100-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay categories.
In the Women’s 100-yard freestyle, Amherst’s senior Kendra Stern emerged as the fastest swimmer to qualify for the finals in a time of 49.77 seconds and was ahead of Stevens’s Laura Barito and Carthage’s Amanda Croix, who touched the wall in 49.97 and 50.13
seconds, respectively.
In the men’s corner, the same event was dominated by Kalamazoo’s senior Craig Fleming, who touched the wall in 43.90 seconds. Fleming’s timing was considerably ahead of the second and third qualifiers, Kenyon’s David Somers and Stewart-Bates, who clocked
a 44.54 and 44.95 seconds, respectively.
Next was the Women’s 200-yard backstroke event, where Emory’s Anne Culpepper won the heat in 1:59.65 minutes and was ahead of Denison’s Emil Schroeder and Emory’s Sadie Nennig, who touched the wall in 2:00.11 and 2:01.29 minutes, respectively.
In the men’s corner, Quinn Bartlett of Denison acquired the fastest qualifying seat in a time of 1:46.30 minutes and was ahead of Robert Barry and Timothy Walsh, who touched the wall in a time of 1:47.14 and 1:48.14 minutes, respectively.
Next was the Women’s 200-yard breast-stroke meet, where Emory’s April Whitley won the heat in a time of 2:16.32 minutes and was ahead of Kathryn Mroz and Courtney Herdt, who touched the wall in a time of 2:17.48 and 2:18.41 minutes, respectively
On the men’s side, the same event was dominated by Whitworth’s Rory Buck in a time of 1:58.08 minutes. He was followed by Staten Island’s Pavel Buyanov and Claremont’s Vincent Pai in a time of 2:01.61 and 2:02.54 minutes, respectively.
In the Women’s 400-yard freestyle relay, the Emory team qualified for the finals in a fastest time of 3:25.22 minutes and was slightly ahead of Denison and Stevens, who touched the wall in a time of 3:25.48 and 3:25.57 minutes, respectively.
The Men’s 400-yard freestyle was the last event of the day, where Kenyon booked the top qualification spot in a time of 2:59.57 minutes, comfortably ahead of Denison and M.I.T, who clocked in 2:59.74 and 3:00.60 minutes, respectively.
