Premier League: Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 vs. Tottenham Hotspur – First Half Report
The first half of football between Blackburn and Tottenham kicked off with a bang as Tottenham controlled the game early on. The visitors were the first ones to break the deadlock at Ewood Park as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741 peeled off the back
of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Robinson as Tottenham took the lead early on. The goal came as a shock for Blackburn as the crowd at Ewood Park
became extremely quiet following their team’s woeful start to the match.
In the 7th minute of the match, Blackburn almost drew level as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mame-Biram-Diouf-c23302 got the better of Assou Ekotto down the left-hand side of Tottenham’s defence. The Manchester United loaned striker then unleashed a brilliant
cross which almost found http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jason-Roberts-c17973 inside the Tottenham penalty area. However, fortunately for the Spurs, Sebastien Bassong was on hand to clear the ball away. In the 10th minute of the match, Blackburn pushed forward yet again. This time it
was Olsson who put in a well-timed cross in behind the Tottenham defence but both Diouf and Roberts were caught on their heels as the ball went out of play for a Tottenham goal kick.
In the 15th minute of the match, Tottenham were in dire straits again as this time David Dunne’s corner from the left-hand side caused havoc inside the Spurs penalty area. Following a couple of random deflections, the
ball was cleared away by Peter Crouch as the London club survived another scare. In the 19th
minute of the match, Tottenham almost conceded an equalizer as the ball fell to Diouf inside their own penalty area, but his eventual shot was blocked by Palacios as the Honduran midfielder cleared the ball away.
Blackburn continued to dominate possession till the 22nd minute as David Dunne tried his luck on Tottenham’s goal but his shot had a lot of swerve on it which took it away from the goal rather than towards it in the
end. In the 28th minute of the first half, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 was brought down by Christopher Samba through a late challenge which took place right at the edge of the Blackburn penalty area. The referee spotted the foul and pointed towards a Tottenham
free kick. The eventual set piece, which was taken by Van der Vaart, whizzed over Paul Robinson’s goal as the Dutchman failed to work the Blackburn goalkeeper.
In the 33rd minute of the match, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermaine-Jones-c18363 was booked by the referee for intentionally bringing down Defoe as the striker was racing towards the Blackburn goal. Jones’s booking was the first one of the match for
either of the two sides. In the 36th minute of the match, Olsson played the ball to Roberts, who flicked it on the first touch to David Dunne inside the Tottenham penalty area. However, Dunne’s final finish was just wide of the far post as the score
line remained poised at one nil to the visiting side.
Near the end of the first half, in the stoppage time, the referee blew for a Blackburn free kick as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874 pulled Jason Roberts to the ground. The set piece was taken by Dunne but quite strangely, Ryan Nelson, the Blackburn
defender, got a flick on the ball which took it away from goal and thus the first half came to an end with the scoreline reading 0-1 in Harry Redknapp’s men’s favour.
