Premier League: Blackpool v West Brom half time report
Blackpool 1 West Brom 0
West Bromwich Albion were reduced to nine men during a remarkable first half at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road.
Spanish defender Pablo Ibanez somewhat harshly received his marching orders from 25-year-old referee Michael Oliver for blocking off Tangerines forward DJ Campbell in the penalty area, allowing Charlie Adam to drive home the spot kick under the body of Baggies ‘keeper Scott Carson.
Amazingly, West Brom defender Gonzalo Jara then launched into a needless two-footed lunge on Blackpool’s Luke Varney by the corner flag, giving Oliver no choice but to reduce the Baggies to nine before the half hour mark.
Blackpool have dominated possession with their extra men, although West Brom have battled admirably, and substitute Graham Dorrans twice went close before the break.
