Everton took on West Ham United in a game that was crucial for both the teams. Everton needed the three points so they could push for a spot in the top half of the table. West Ham, on the other hand, were desperately looking to
pick up three points to try and climb out of the relegation zone.
The line-ups for the game were as follows:
Everton: Howard, Neville, Heitinga, Distin, Baines, Coleman, Arteta, Fellaini, Osman, Anichebe, Beckford Subs: Mucha, Hibbert, Jagielka, Bilyaletdinov, Saha, Gueye, Rodwell
West Ham: Green, Faubert, Tomkins, Upson, Bridge, Hines, Spector, Noble, Parker, Boa Morte, Piquionne Subs: Boffin, Reid, Gabbidon, McCarthy, Sears, Barrera, Nouble
The match kicked off with West Ham looking to be the more threatening side of the two. This early threat from the visitors eventually led to the first goal of the game on the 28th minute. Boa Morte made a brilliant surge
forward and then went on to lay a pass to Spector. The West Ham player took a glance at the Everton goal, before going on to smashing a rocket into the back of the net.
However, after the opening goal, the match quietened down. It wasn't up until the 77th minute that the next real good passage of football took place.
After finally putting some pressure on West Ham, a ball was looped into the Hammers area. Piquionne did his best to clear his lines, but his clearance fell as far as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diniyar-Bilyaletdinov-c11318. Bilyaletdinov then went on to unleash
a thunderbolt of a volley that bounced into the ground and up and over Green to find the back of the net. As a result of that goal, the scores were level on the night.
On the 84th minute, Frederic Piquionne showed real class as he leapt in the air to meet a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Bridge-c36733 cross. The forward dove forward and nodded a looping header into the back of the net and as a result West Ham had
the lead once again.
A minute later, however, the forward was given his marching orders. Piquionne, who dove into the fans, was shown a second yellow for his celebration and was forced to head out for an early shower.
Nonetheless, just when it looked like West Ham would end the match with all three points, Fellaini managed to find the ball in the West Ham area in stoppage time. With all the pressure of the world on his shoulders, the towering
midfielder went on to smack a shot with power beyond Green and into the back of the net. As a result of the very, very late equalizing goal from Fellaini, the match ended with both teams sharing the points on the night.
