Premier League: Fulham 3-0 vs. West Bromwich Albion – Match Review (Part 2)
Simon Davies almost got a goal as well when West Brom’s new right back James Hurst almost gifted him the opportunity to score. The right back completely failed to clear the ball towards safety as it landed straight onto Davies’s
feet. Even though the winger tried his shot on goal, he failed to find the target and a great chance was missed by Fulham to score their fist.
The best chance of the first half was still to come. It was five minutes before half time when the centre back Brede Hangeland headed the ball wide from a corner kick. He was well under pressure from the goalkeeper Scott Carson
who managed to punch his own defender while clearing the ball towards safety.
Right when the referee was about to blow the half time whistle, Fulham scored the first goal of the game. Dickson Etuhu won the ball from Mulumbu right at the edge of the 18-yard box and passed it on to Simon Davies. Davies took
no time to shoot the ball towards the goal from long range, as it went and struck the top corner of the net and the home team got a well-deserved first goal.
The second half started on thunderous pace for Fulham. They had another opportunity right at the beginning of the second half. However, Fulham simply could not take their shot on goal. Damien Duff got the ball at his feet right
inside the penalty area and took his chances on goal. However, Scott Carson took a deep breath when he shot the ball brushing off from the right post and going out of play.
Few minutes later, Fulham made it 2-0. The goal came from a corner and it was Hangeland, who missed the opportunity to score the second while trying to head the ball into the net. However, Clint Dempsey made no mistake, connected
perfectly, and got enough on the ball to get it past Scott Carson.
With the second goal coming, the Baggies simply lost hope in the game. However, Fulham were all charged up and they simply wanted more, as they were destroying West Bromwich Albion in Craven Cottage. With so much pressure on “The
Throstles,” it was hard for them to manage at the back and Damien Duff was the one who raced from the right flank and took his shot on goal, which was cleared by the debuting defender James Hurst.
However, the Baggies were not to give up just yet. Roberto Di Matteo replaced Mulumbu with Marc Antoine to get back into the game. This gave West Brom less muscle power in the middle and provided Fulham with more chances to score
goals as they easily passed the ball in the midfield and kept hold of the possession.
Ten minutes later, they finally made a breakthrough, which really ended the game for the visitors. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Brunt slipped in his own box and gave Brede Paulsen Hangeland the chance to score the third goal of the game. He was left
alone inside the penalty area to shoot the ball to find the back of the net, leaving Scott Carson with simply no chance whatsoever.
Fulham simply shook West Brom’s defensive walls and took advantage of each and every mistake that they made. It was definitely a day to celebrate for Mark Hughes who saved his job after coming out from the relegation zone. As a
result, the Craven Cottage side managed to leap over all other teams to join the mid table on the 13th place.
