Premier League Full Time Report: Birmingham vs West Ham – Birmingham fight back to draw with West Ham
Birmingham came back after going two goals down to draw the game against West Ham with a score line of two goals to all in what was an entertaining match that took place at St. Andrews.
All four of the goals that were scored came in the second half. Fredric Piquionne and Behrami gave West Ham the surprise lead initially, however with Jerome scoring the first goal for Birmingham, it was only a matter of time before the home side drew level.
The equalizing goal eventually came thanks to Liam Ridgewell.
After a rather entertaining first half, the scores were still level at nil all for both the teams. The closest that either team came in the first half, was when Carlton Cole hit the wood work for West Ham on the seventeenth minute mark.
Things were quite different in the second half as Piquionne managed for the visiting side the lead on the forty seventh minute after Obinna played a defence splitting pass that found the forward.
Ten minutes later, Behrami scored West Ham's second. Cole who had the opportunity to shoot first time decided to tee up Behrami instead he raced onto the ball and fired it into the back of the net.
But, Birmingham weren't going to sit back and take all the beating. On the sixty fourth minute, Birmingham bounced back in the game. A long ball was played into West Ham area and Zigic used his height advantage to set up Jerome who bundled the ball into
the back of the net.
The comeback was completed on the seventy third minute, when Ridgewell struck the equalizing goal. Larsson struck a brilliant free kick that was stopped by Green but only as far as into the path of the rushing Ridgewell who had the simple task of stroking
the ball into an empty net.
The match eventually ended with the score line reading two all. Neither team looked to be disappointed after the outcome of the game as both sides were equally as good as the other on the night. However, Birmingham would have surely felt that they should
have done better against a struggling West Ham side, but they had to settle with the points being shared once the game came to an end.
