Premier League Full Time Report: Bolton vs. Tottenham – Bolton bring Tottenham back down to Earth
Bolton Wanderers successfully went on to cut down Tottenham and bring the team back down to Earth; after beat them by a score line of four goals to two at the Reebok stadium.
Kevin Davies scored two goals initially and then Gertar Steinsson also went on to add another to the score line. However Tottenham looked to surge a comeback later on as both Roman Pavlyuchenko and Alan Hutton struck superb strikes to
lower the deficit. However a later Martin Petrov goal settled the game once and for all and gave Bolton the win on the night.
Going into the game, Tottenham were on a high after having beaten Inter Milan by three goals to one, that match was mostly described as Gareth Bale's break out performance; however the match against Bolton was a dose of reality for the
team who thought they could go on and win it all.
With everyone crediting Bale for being the heart of Tottenham, the game against Bolton went on to prove that the real saviour of the team is Dutch man Rafael Van Der Vaart, who just so happened to be missing on the night. Niko Kranjcar
was asked to fill in for the player, but he had really big shoes to fit into and never really managed to successfully do the Van Der Vaart job in the game.
The first goal came in the thirty first minute, thanks to Kevin Davies. After some terrible defending by Tottenham, Sandro managed to hand the ball over to Bolton inside his own half and Davis found the back of the net with a left footed
strike.
The next goal came on the fifty sixth minute. Lee managed to find Steinsson with a great cutback and the side back did brilliantly to fire low into the bottom corner of the net to give Bolton the two goal cushion.
Davis then went on to complete his double after converting a penalty that was awarded to Bolton on the seventy sixth minute.
However in the seventy ninth minute, Tottenham side came back as Hutton tried to spur the game on by scoring an outrageous left footed striker that gave Tottenham their first goal on the night.
On the eighty seventh minute it looked like Tottenham might just get something out of the game as Pavlyuchenko smashed a brilliant volley into the goal.
Just as it looked like the game was on, Martin Petrov killed Tottenham's hopes by scoring Bolton's fourth goal in injury time and settled the game once and for all.
