Premier League Full Time Report: Chelsea vs. Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, 2-0
Chelsea took on Blackburn at home in a game that came amidst one of the worst run in forms the team has had in recent history. As a result, there was much talk about Carlo Ancelotti potentially getting the axe and a number of players getting offloaded with
whole lot more still unrevealed. However none of that seemed to matter to the Blues as they were more determined to beat Blackburn and try to end the month of January on a high.
The line-ups for the game were as follow:
Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Essien, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba, Malouda
Subs: Turnbull, Mikel, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ferreira-c13712, Kalou, Sturridge, Bruma, McEachran
Blackburn: Robinson, Salgado, Nelsen, Samba, Givet, Dunn, Olsson, Pedersen, Hoilett, Kalinic, Mame Diouf
Subs: El-Hadji Diouf, Bunn, Santa Cruz, Mwaruwari, Roberts, Hanley, Lowe
The match kicked off with Chelsea dominating from the very first minute. The team came close on the 12th minute, but Ramires's effort managed to bounce back off the woodwork.
However as the half progressed Blackburn showed sparks of creativity here and there nonetheless they failed to capitalize on their early chances to score.
Both sides produced some amazing attacking football displays unfortunately neither of them were able to pull one up by the interval.
The second half picked up in the same manner with which the first ended. Both teams were looking to go at it once again. However this time around the home side started to edge past the visitors and as a result acquired first goal of the game in the 58th
minute.
Ivanovic managed to squeeze in a scrappy low shot that went between the legs of Nelsen and then Salgado, to beat Robinson. Despite the goal being rather peculiar, it turned out to be effective as it not only gave the Blues a lead, but it also edged them
on to perform even better as the match progressed.
With Chelsea bringing on non-stop waves of attack they certainly brought up the tempo of the game.turned on seemed to really push their game to the next level and as a result, they soon had their second goal on the night.
During the 76th minute, Malouda took a corner for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 that fell on to Ivanovic's head. The defender headed the ball goal wards and just when it looked like Robinson would claim the ball, Anelka snuck in to flick the ball into back of the net.
As a result Chelsea managed to beat Blackburn by a score line of two goals to nil hence providing proof that to rule them out of the title race as yet would be foolish.
