Premier League Full Time Report: Everton 2 – 1 Manchester City – Part 1
Manchester City travelled to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Saturday, May 7th, hoping to retain their fourth spot in the Premier League. However, despite having opened the scoring in the game, City was overwhelmed by a prolific second-half
display by Everton, who went on to win the game by 2-1.  For City, the solitary goal of the game was scored by Yaya Toure, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leon-Osman-c22041 scored for the Toffees.
The match kicked off with City appearing to be livelier of the two teams. The Citizens constantly threatened the Everton backline and were launching wave after wave of attack.
In the 11th minute, it seemed like City would take an early lead in the game. David Silva went on to show his class down the left flank, as he controlled the ball via a brilliant first touch and then slid it into the Everton penalty area.
His delivery went on to beat just about everyone and reached http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-Vieira-c29316. The French midfielder had the goal at his mercy but somehow managed to strike his effort well over the bar.

However, the midfielder was not able to pass the ball effectively so the attack amounted to nothing for the visitors.
In the 29th minute, Yaya Toure made no mistake as he scored the opening goal of the game for City.
Silva produced brilliant skills to get past a couple of defenders before sliding a through pass towards Toure. The midfielder then produced a crisp finish as his effort sailed past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Howard-c35095 and smacked in the top left corner of the goal.
After scoring the opening goal, City seemed to attack Everton consistently and started to put together ample passes, creating a number of goal scoring opportunities.
Nonetheless, they failed to find the back of the net on three separate occasions due to brilliant defending exhibited by Everton and City’s inability to finish off the chances they created.
In the 43rd minute, Everton created a scoring opportunity on a counter attack.
Hibbert got down the right flank for Everton and went on to whip in a tantalizing cross into the area. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Rodwell-c17462 managed to leap highest to meet the cross brilliantly but his header managed to sail just inches wide of the post.
Soon after that miss from Rodwell, the first-half came to a close and City looked to be well in control of the proceedings on the night, leading at half time, 0-1.
