Premier League Goal Summary: Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle United played host to Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park. Both teams were performing rather well in the league and were sitting in the top half of the Premier League table.
The match kicked off with both sides looking to be rather reluctant on attacking each other and as a result, the opening forty minutes were rather dull.
In the 39th minute, Steven Taylor went on to take down Adebayor in the box and the referee pointed straight to the spot. Van Der Vaart stepped up to take the resulting spot kick and made no mistake with his effort, which flew right into the back
of the net.
In the 48th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 went on to draw Newcastle level in the game, as he went on to maintain his fine goal scoring form. Gutierrez went on to power his way across the field and went on to loft a brilliant cross into the box. With no one
marking Ba, he sprinted into space and used his momentum to tap the ball into the goal.
In the 68th minute Parker played a brilliant cross field ball towards Defoe. Adebayor dummied over the pass and let the ball run to the English striker. Defoe then beat a defender before smashing a low shot into the back of the net.
In the 86th minute, just when it seemed like Newcastle would lose their first game of the season, Ameobi struck for the home side to make it two all. Cabaye played a ball forward and the ball fell to the towering striker. The forward then rifled
an effort into the far post and left Friedel with no chance of stopping the ball from finding the back or the net.
As a result, the game ended with both sides cancelling each other out and the finals core reading two all.
The line ups for the game were as follows:
NEWCASTLE: Krul, Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, R Taylor, Obertan, Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez, Best, Ba
Subs: Elliot, Santon, Gosling, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands, Shola Ameobi.
TOTTENHAM: Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto, Modric, Livermore, Parker, Bale, Van der Vaart, Adebayor
Subs: Cudicini, Bassong, Rose, Giovani, Townsend, Defoe, Pavlyuchenko.
