Premier League Goal Summary: Stoke City vs Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur took on Stoke City in the Premier League in hopes of maintain their unbeaten run. However, following a brilliant display from Stoke, the London club lost its first game in twelve matches.
Going into the game, both the teams were looking to pick up the three points, which would help them enhance their current stance in the Premier League table.
Tottenham were doing far better than their opponents, as the Spurs were looking to try and cut down the gap between them and Manchester United. On the other hand, Stoke were still looking to climb up the table and make it into the top six.
Despite that fact, Stoke have almost been impossible to beat at home and they were looking to use this to their advantage, as they hosted Tottenham.
It didn’t take the home team much time to find the back of the net, as Stoke scored the opening goal of the game in the 13th minute. The ball was launched into the Spurs area and the defenders looked nervous while clearing the ball. The ball then
fell to Shotton, who whipped in  a brilliant cross. Former Spurs striker, Crouch latched onto the ball and played it towards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Etherington-c12941, who sent the ball into the goal from some six yards out.
Stoke continued to apply the pressure on Tottenham for the remainder of the half, as they kept attacking the Spurs goal.
All this pressure paid off in the 43rd minute, as the home side doubled their lead on the night. Shotton was once again the player to cause all sorts of problems in the Tottenham area, as he sent a long throw into the box. Shawcross went on to
meet the throw-in and flicked the ball across the goal. Etherington went on to miss hit his shot, but still managed to sent the ball past the keeper and into the net.
Tottenham had to wait all the way till the 62nd minute to feel that they could get something out of the game.
Modric looked to win a foul of Whelan in the area and managed to do so, with ease. The referee didn’t hesitate as he pointed to the spot and awarded Tottenham with a penalty.
Adebayor stepped up to take the resulting kick for Tottenham, as he sent the keeper the wrong way and found the back of the net with his shot.
Nonetheless, the spot kick proved to be nothing more than a consolation goal, as Tottenham lost all three points on the night.
