Premier League Goal Summary – Wigan Athletic vs Sunderland
Wigan Athletic played host to Sunderland in the Premier League. However, the home side just couldn’t prevent the visitors from stealing all three points from the game, as Gardner, McClean, Sessegnon and Vaughan all scored for the Black Cats. Rodallega was
the only player on the score sheet for the home side.
The first goal of the game came just before the end of the first half. Gardner bent in a free kick and with the wind blasting at the ball, it somehow managed to help take it over the line and into the back of the net.
In the 55th minute, McClean went on to double the visitors lead. The Sunderland player managed to respond to a rebound, after the ball was deflected into play by Al-Habsi and he then went on to tap the ball over the line and into the back of the
net with ease.
Wigan tried to get themselves back in the game and in the 62nd minute, they came awfully close to doing so. Rodallega went on to score for the home side, as he brought down the deficit to just one goal once again.
Nonetheless, Sunderland continued their rampage and Bendtner went on to win the ball off, of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Figueroa-c13730 and bend it into the box in the 73rd minute. Sessegnon was the quickest to react, as he met the trajectory of the ball and sent it sailing past
the keeper and into the net.
In the 80th minute, Vaughan went on to take a pop at goal from distance and his effort sailed straight into the top corner of the goal, as it helped Sunderland lead the game by four goals to one.
As a result, the Black Cats went on to pick up all three points from the game, while Wigan were left wondering as to what went wrong.
