Premier League Gossip: Alex Ferguson spotted in Spain, Arsenal third choice unhappy, Tottenham to movie in for Pienaar and new stadium

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United’s manager missed his third United game, in the twenty four years that he has spent at the club.
The reason Alex Ferguson missed his team’s Wednesday night Carling Cup match, was because the manager was reported to be in Spain. There could be two reasons for the manager being in that part of the world.
The first and most obvious reason could be, that the manager was looking into the Valencia side, that United were going to be facing this coming week in the Champions League. Ferguson, has in the past always managed to do his homework going into important
games.
The second reason the papers suggest Ferguson could have been there for, is that the manager was on a scouting mission. The manager is apparently interested in David De Gea’ who plays for Athletico Madrid. Ferguson is well aware of the fact that, Van Der
Sar is nearing his retirement, sooner than later and that he needs to sign at least one more keeper as a future prospect for the club.
Tottenham’s manager Harry Redknapp is reported to have rekindled his interest in signing, Steven Pienaar from Everton. The manager planned on luring the South African to the White Hart Lane, in the summers, but his bid failed to go through.
The manager has however been given a new ray of hope, in regard to signing the player. This is because of the poor form that Everton have been displaying so far this season. The team has been a shadow of its former self and most of the star players at the
club have started to grow frustrated, as a result of this poor run and have been reported to look for a move away from the team.
According to the Mirror: 'Redknapp's top spy Ian Bloomfield watched midfield dynamo in action again last weekend and Spurs will try to land Pienaar for a low price in the New Year - with the Toffees under pressure to sell as he could be free in the summer.

'Everton put a big price tag on Pienaar in the last window but boss David Moyes may have to drop that and attempt to wheel and deal as he shakes up his squad.'
Most football experts, feel that Pienaar would more than likely be on his way to Tottenham in January. However whether or not the player will get any playing time is a different story. Tottenham already have their fair share of midfielders and buying another
one could prove to be an unnecessary addition that the team really doesn’t need.
Staying with Tottenham, it looks like the North London team will finally be getting a new stadium. The team is reported to get an approval for a new fifty six thousand person stadium as early as next week. According to The Times: 'The council's planning
officer said yesterday that it is "minded to grant planning permission" to the development, which is expected to cost about £400 million. The club made revisions to their plans submitted last October after concerns from English Heritage. The plans include
200 new homes, a public square, a hotel and supermarket.'
The council that is mentioned above is the London Borough of Haringey department, who will be looking to pass the approval on the stadium.
