Premier League Gossip: De Jong gets new deal, Pique says no to City

Nigel De Jong might have gotten dropped by the Dutch national side, for having broken Ben Arfa’s leg, but Manchester City have gone on to offer the defensive midfielder a new contract at the club.
The tough as nails player, is currently in talks with the City officials, over a new contract that would see the player remain at the Eastlands for another couple of years at least.
According to a press release:  'De Jong, 25, is under contract until summer 2013 but will get a pay rise on his £80,000-a-week wages and a longer deal. He has had an excellent 18 months at City since being signed by ex-boss Mark Hughes.'
De Jong has gone from being a player, who was on the verge of leaving the club this past summer to a player, who has become an integral part of the City team that is hoping to win some silverware this season.

Barcelona’s star defender, Gerard Pique has gone on to rubbish any and all talks, that linked the player with a move away from the Camp Nou to the Eastlands.
The defender went on to say : "I have heard the rumour but my head is in Barcelona and it is not a question of money."
The defender has clearly indicated that he has no interest in leaving Barcelona, not even if he offered a handsome sum of money. With the player openly denying the transfer, it is more than likely that it is bound to never happen.

Liverpool’s summer signing, Milan Jovanovic, has gone on to end all rumours that stated the player was looking to leave the Anfield side as early as January, despite having joined the side this past summer.
It was reported earlier last week, that the Serbia international, who joined the team on a free transfer, was unhappy at Liverpool, as he was already not being shown enough first team action and was hence looking to move away from the team, on with the first
option that he got.
However the twenty nine year old player, has gone onto dismiss all those claims and is reported to have said: "I am angry. I am new here and all I'm trying to do is work and do what's best for the team," he said. "It's not important that I am on the bench.
I have signed a contract for three years and I want to stay for three years."

The players comments, could have been a direct result to try and not take away the little team spirit that is left with the Liverpool side. The team is currently in the relegation zone and if a player went ahead and stated that he wished to leave the team,
it would have killed the very little hope and spirit that the side had left.
Jovanovic has every right to want to leave the team, he was brought in to play as a striker but is being asked to play as a midfielder instead. None the less he has gone ahead and played where he was asked to, but if he is still constantly left on the bench,
he might just feel that he has no future at the club, that is currently finding it hard to break into the top half of the league
