Premier League Gossip: Goalkeepers Manuel Neuer, Asmir Begovic in demand
It’s an open secret that Manchester United are in desperate need of a new goal keeper. However, just who that keeper is going to be remains a secret as the team is constantly being linked with almost ever keeper in the market.
The latest addition to the list of keepers who could be on their way to Old Trafford is German sensation Manuel Neuer. Neuer came into the limelight during the FIFA World Cup 2010 where he dazzled with some brilliant displays that left spectators awestruck.
According to on media publication, “United have lined up Manuel Neuer as the long-term replacement for Old Trafford veteran Edwin van der Sar' United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants the German, who played a controversial role in England's World Cup exit last
summer, to replace the Dutchman. Van der Sar celebrates his 40th birthday at the end of the month and Neuer, 24, has emerged as United's first-choice successor after an extensive search.”
The accuracy of this news remains to be seen. It won’t be until January when we find just who Manchester United are looking to sign in order to replace Van Der Sar when he does decide to call it quits.
Another club who are in desperate need to sign a quality keeper is none other than Arsenal. The team has been suffering due to poor and inexperienced keepers at the club. The club seems to have finally found a keeper who they think can prove to be the difference
maker at the club. The player that the team is looking to sign is Bosnian Asmir Begovic, who is currently the reserve keeper at Stoke.
Despite Begovic being an unknown keeper, it is reported that Chelsea and Tottenham are interested to hire the Bosnian, which is why Arsenal will have to act fast if they hope to sign the player and not lose out on another great deal.
According to another British publication, “The Gunners are expected to face stiff competition from some of their major title rivals when the transfer window re-opens for business in January. Both Chelsea and Tottenham are reviving their interest in the highly
rated Bosnian star.”
Most experts expected Arsenal to sign a well established world class keeper, but it seems like the team would rather put all their eggs in one basket and hope that their blind signing can prove to be the elixir that sees them fall out of their five year,
trophy less slump.
