Premier League Gossip: Rooney ready to go, Capello ponders over captain
Wayne Rooney has managed to jump from one bad image story to another. The Manchester United striker was left out of the United side, for their midweek clash against Valencia, because it was claimed that the striker had injured his ankle. However the player
has somehow managed to recover in dramatic fashion and was even caught playing golf yesterday.
This proves to be good news for both the club side and the national team as Rooney is in line to appear for the club over the weekend .
The story was explained in detail in a press release and was as follows: 'Wayne Rooney left a Manchester hospital yesterday clutching the scan results he hopes will show he is fit to play for club and country.
'The troubled England star was puzzled and stunned when Ferguson claimed he would be out for three weeks to let his ankle recover - with the hint that he was also being given time to sort out his personal life.'
'Rooney, who played golf on Tuesday as his mates flew off to Spain, will be back in training today as he bids to prove he is right physically and mentally.'
Good news for Fabio Capello. In any case, the Daily Mail reckons that the Italian was already 'hopeful his best player will be available for the Montenegro game on October 12.'
Staying with England, Fabio Capello is having to deal with another really tough decision. The manager is not quite sure as to who should be captain of the national side in the near future. This is because, Rio Ferdinand who was the former captain, failed to
participate in the World Cup, but is now back to full fitness.
This has left Capello in a dilemma and the manager is now unsure if he should leave Steven Gerrard as captain or re-employee Rio Ferdinand as the team’s leader.
The manager is however more than likely to opt for a player who is playing more regularly, rather than a player who barely ever manages to make an appearance for the team.
The other option that the manager has, is to opt for Frank Lampard to be the new captain to the side. The Chelsea midfielder, has been looked down upon for a while now and many experts feel that it’s about time that the midfielder got the chance to lead
the team on the international stage. He has proven that he can produce the performances to inspire the team, however it is now up to the manager to decide what he wishes to do.
Adam Barton, has gone ahead and turned down the offer of making a return to Northern Ireland, this is because he is hoping of hopefully making a return to the Premier League. The two teams that are currently interested in signing the player are Stoke and
Bolton.
The Player has formerly played for the likes of Preston and is rumoured to cost either team around five million pounds.
Stoke would be considered the favourites to sign the player, this is because they currently have a much bigger transfer budget when compared to Bolton and are looking to be the more threatening side in the league at the moment.
