Premier League Gossip - September 21st 2010: Pending Wenger ban decision, Arsenal and Tottenham to field kids
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has until tonight’s Carling Cup clash against Tottenham to find out whether or not he is to be given an FA appointed charge of misconduct and serve his first ever touchline ban in English football.
If the manager does end up to pleading guilty, he will be forced to watch tonight’s game from the directors box at the White Hart Lane for his teams Carling Cup match. However if the manager does plead to being not guilty then it is more than likely that
his suspension will be increased at a personal hearing.
It is still unclear as to what Wenger is being charged for. The manager could be charged for an array of things, he could be charged for his push on the fourth official Martin Atkinson, or for his alleged swearing at the rather controversial official. The manager
could even be charged for both of those events. However Wenger has not yet decided to respond to either of those claims and is choosing to remain silent to prevent the situation from escalating even further.
Wenger is a manager who believes in professionalism and is expected to accept any decision that the FA impose on him without any further arguments or disagreements.
This isn’t the first time that Wenger has found himself in hot water following his post match actions, but this is quite possibly the first time the manager is going to be imposed with such a harsh decision.
It now looks like Tottenham and Arsenal will both be looking to field youngsters for the teams clash tonight in the Carling Cup.
Tottenham’s manager Harry Redknapp has also confirmed rumours that the teams new signing, Sandro will finally get his chance to play in the Tottenham team alongside, Jake Livermore and Steven Caulker. Third choice keeper Stipe Pletikosa is also expected
to get a call up for tonight’s match, while out of favour former Arsenal midfielder David Bentley is also expected to be fielded tonight for Tottenham for a change.
Sandro has not yet featured for Tottenham and fans and experts don’t know what to expect from him. Harry Redknapp has referred to the player as an Abou Diaby type of player.
Arsenal will have some disappointing news on their end, Lukasz Fabianzki is set to feature in goal for Arsenal instead of the Arsenal rising star, Wojciech Szczensy. Also some Arsenal youngsters will be looking to make their first team debuts, those players
include, Chuks Aneke and Eammanuel-Thomas. Carlos Vela is also expected to lead the line for Arsenal, Johan Djourou is expected to make a very rare appearance for the Arsenal side as well. Arsenal will obviously be without the services of Cesc Fabregas, Robin
Van Persie, Theo Walcott, Nickalas Bendtner and Aaron Ramsey, all of whom have some sort of injury. Wenger is also more than definitely going to be fielding Jack Wilshere, however it is still unclear as to who will be playing at the centre back positions for
the team. Emmanuel Eboue and Kieran Gibbs are also expected to start on the sides of the Arsenal defence.
