Premier League Gossip: Underrated players who will make a difference this coming season - Part 2
Martin Petrov
In 2007, Martin Petrov emerged onto the face of the English Premier League as a force to reckon with. The winger ruthlessly attacked side-backs and scored goals and created them with ease. However with the new re-revolution that is being brought to the Eastlands, players like Adam Johnson and David Silva have been brought to the squad. What this has done is that it has taken away any chances of Petrov playing in the Manchester City squad. This was more than evident because the player was allowed to leave the club as a free transfer. Bolton saw this as an opportunity to sign a world class player and lured the winger to their squad.
Petrov will be on a mission when he plays for Bolton this coming season. He will be looking to re-establish himself as the same player who came to the Premier League three years ago. At the same time, he will be looking to prove City officials wrong for letting him leave the team.
Petrov when combined with Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander will definitely result in Bolton scoring quite a number of goals. With Petrov whipping in beautiful crosses from the wing and occasionally cutting to unleash a wonder shot could only mean that the coming season is going to be a good one for the player and the club.
Ross Turnbull
Just like Arsenal, there are hardly any Chelsea players which can be underrated. They are a team that is composed of internationally acclaimed superstars.
However when a team is defending a title, the difference can eventually come down to the depth of the squad. In the 2008/2009 season, Chelsea’s season was forced to crash due to the injuries sustained by Petr Cech.
Henrique Hilário was brought in to replace Cech but he tends to occasionally become a calamity in front of the goal. This is where Turnbull could prove to be the decisive factor to the Chelsea roster. He might not get more than five or ten games in the season, but those games could make or break the Chelsea season.
Turnbull played against Inter Milan last season and had more than a decent game in the Champions League. Considering Cech is going to be out for at least three games at the start of the season it would only mean that Turnbull would be called up to replace the shot stopper.
Leon Best
Newcastle finally managed to join the English Premier League by getting promoted from the first division. However, considering that the Toon’s defence isn’t the best in the world which is why they will be looking to score more goals than they let in. Steven Taylor, who was the main goal threat for Newcastle was recently ruled out for three months due to an injury that he sustained.
Leon Best joined Newcastle to help them stay in the Premier League at the end of the season. The Republic of Ireland international has had success on previous occasions - both internationally and domestically - and will be looking to bring in the same from to Newcastle. Experts believe that the player will bag at least more than ten goals this season.
Those ten goals could be the decisive factor that make or break Newcastle’s season. The Toon fans and management will be hoping that their investment can live up to the expectations.
Best will be looking to have a good season because of the fact that if he does, it might result in a call up to a bigger club eventually.
