Premier League Gossip: What does Wayne Rooney want?
According to most of the Premier League bookies, the odds on favourite place for Manchester United’s want away striker, Wayne Rooney is Manchester City. City, who are United’s city rivals and arch enemy, have been tracking Rooney like a pack of hungry dogs,
to try and pick up the England international, the day he is put up for sale.
The last player to make the jump from United to City was the current City Captain, Carlos Tevez. Tevez, despite performing fantastically for United, was not retained by the club and in turn was off loaded to City. Rooney could quite possibly face the same
fate, if things happen to go according to City’s plans. However, what the player is in line for, is a serious amount of hate that is soon to be targeted towards him, if he does agree to make the move.
Rooney, who has in the past been the United fan's hero and the team's shinning light, was a man who many considered to be more loyal than anything else and if that same loyal player goes on and commits the most disloyal deed of them all, then most of the
world wouldn’t know what to believe in anymore.
Manchester United are more than likely to however block the move from every going through. An insider at the team was quoted to have said: "That would be a nightmare and we'll do everything possible to stop it happening."
That just indicates the fact that the team is more than aware of the threat that City possesses at the moment and would try their level best to let the player go to any team, but City.
There are two other teams, who are also in the running to try and land the player. Those are both from the La Liga and are Real Madrid and Barcelona. Jose Mourinho, Madrid coach, has in the past admitted to being an admirer of the player and could potentially
land the player. However, he will face stiff competition from Barcelona if he does wish to sign the player, since the reigning champions of Spain are also reported to be long term admirers of the player and have recently admitted to wanting to possibly make
a move for the player.
All these moves could potentially be blocked by United’s outrageous demands for the player. According to a media source, 'Manchester United are likely to ask for a figure in excess of the world record £80million they got from Real Madrid for Ronaldo, last
year. And if Rooney joined arch rivals Manchester City, he would command a salary of around £230,000-a-week - so with bonuses would rake in at least £60million over five years. The striker could also command up to £5million just for putting pen to paper.'
United are clearly trying to make it a whole lot harder for Rooney, by telling the player that he will be allowed to leave, while at the same time, making his move out of the club almost impossible. The player is going to be given some of the hardest times
of his United career in the coming weeks and if he wishes to make it through, the best option for him would be to remain quiet and let what happens happen in the future, otherwise his last days at United would be anything but happy.
