Premier League Half Time Report – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea (Part 4)
On the thirty fifth minute, it was Kalou once again who was in the middle of things for Chelsea. This time around it was Malouda who whipped in a fine ball for the striker and Kalou's effort managed to glance off his head bouncing just wide of the post.
On the thirty seventh minute, Lennon showed that Bale was not the only speedy player at Tottenham. The winger went on to sprint past Cole, who by no means is a slow poke and then produced a low cross into the area. Cech had to dive off his line to claim
the ball, but the move showed just how deadly Lennon can be.
On the forty first minute, Anelka looked to be through on goal and just waiting for the ball to be played to him. However the through ball was not up to mark as it failed to make its way to the Frenchman.
What was interesting during the last few minutes of the first half was the fact that John Terry was playing liberal role in defence and midfield. The defender would run up and spend long periods inside the Spurs half.
On the forty fourth minute, it looked like Chelsea had the equalizing goal. Anelka turned in a cross from Ramires, but the linesman raised his flag and ruled the goal for being offside. Chelsea were disagreeing with the linesman's decision and kept insisting
that the Spurs goal was also scored thanks to an offside.
A minute into stoppage time, Cech came off his line a mere thirty yards to make a save, but the keeper managed to have judged his run just right as he managed to beat Defoe to the ball and clear it away.
With Chelsea having dominated the half, but still going a goal down, proved that there was much need for a change in team. The referee eventually blew his whistle to signal the end of the half, but that just meant that Carlo Ancelotti had fifteen minutes
to get things right at the break.
