Premier League Injury Update: Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher out for three months
Apart from a woeful form, Liverpool is further unravelled by injury news: veteran defender Jamie Carragher will not be available for the team for three months. This happened on Sunday when Liverpool lost to Tottenham Hotspur and
the Reds are still counting the loss.
The modern-day hero and one of the finest defenders of Liverpool will undergo a surgery after he dislocated his shoulder. Jamie Carragher made his 450th
appearance in the English Premier League on Sunday at White Hart Lane when FC Liverpool lost their game against Tottenham 2-1. Liverpool is already missing their captain Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger who plays as a centre-back. Liverpool manager Roy
Hodgson said in a press statement that Jamie Carragher will be out for less than a month but after a thorough assessment, he would have to undergo an operation and would be out for at least three months. Earlier this month, Steven Gerrard also encountered
a hamstring injury and was ruled out. He may join the squad this Monday and play in the upcoming clash between Liverpool and Newcastle United.
The damage caused by the injury of Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger is major for the Reds’ performance this season. Although Daniel Agger is expected to come back in mid December, Liverpool would now have to take the plunge in
the Premier League without their legendary players. Carragher, in an interview to his club website, said, “I’ll be facing a surgery by the end of this week and the average time is around 12 weeks ending up on late February or the start of March. I would love
to join before that time period by at the same time I’ll have to make sure my shoulder is fine.”
Jamie Carragher had been leading FC Liverpool team in Gerrard’s absence. Soon after he left the pitch against the Spurs, the latter scored thereby leaving Liverpool in the 10th position on the League table.
