Premier League: Manchester City v Liverpool half time report
Manchester City 1 Liverpool 0
A Gareth Barry goal has given Manchester City the lead at the midway point of their Premier League clash with Liverpool at Eastlands, as James Milner made an immediate impression on his City debut.
Milner set up his former Aston Villa team-mate Barry to slot home an effort past Pepe Reina just 13 minutes in, for a goal that City have deserved in a half that they have largely dominated.
Aside from Milner, the hosts’ most impressive performer has been fellow England midfielder Adam Johnson, who has twice seen efforts flash just wide of Reina’s goal, while Barry also shot off target from distance.
Liverpool have laboured, but with Fernando Torres and David Ngog starting a Premier League game together for the first time, the Reds came into the match more and more as the half went on, and saw Steven Gerrard fire two shots wide in the closing stages.
