Premier League: Manchester United leave it late to get the win
Manchester United scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to get a lucky win over a resilient Wolves at Old Trafford.
Ji-Sung Park put United in front on the stroke of half time, but Wolves responded well and found an equaliser through Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, but as they have done down the years, United scored a very late goal, and it was Park who grabbed it.
The negative for United was Owen Hargreaves, who made his return from injury today, but limped out of the game with a hamstring problem.
Fulham also left it late to get a point at home to Aston Villa. Marc Albrighton put Villa in front, but Brede Hangeland, the big Norwegian centre-back scored, like he did in the 2-2 draw with United earlier during the season, to give his side a point.
Two goals from Asamoah Gyan helped Sunderland get a 2-0 win over Stoke. The Ghanaian, getting his first start for Sunderland, grabbed his first of the day with a low finish, and then scored his second four minutes from time with a finish into the bottom left corner. Ryan Shawcross was sent off for Stoke, but Sunderland bounced back in the perfect way, despite missing a penalty as well today, following their 5-1 hammering to rivals Newcastle last weekend.
Birmingham came from two goals down to snatch a draw against struggling West Ham. The Hammers went 1-0 up through Federic Piquionne and then Valon Behrami doubled the lead 10 minutes later, but that inspired Birmingham, who scored five minutes later courtesy of Cameron Jerome, and then Liam Ridgewell equalised.
Blackpool and Everton shared the spoils at Bloomfield Road in an entertaining game. Neil Eardley scored the opener with a free kick, but Tim Cahill scored a trademark header to draw the Toffees level. David Vaughan restored the lead for the home side, but Seamus Coleman fired in a low shot to steal a point.
Blackburn beat Wigan 2-1 at Ewood Park thanks to second half goals from Morten Gamst-Pedersen and Jason Roberts. Pedersen scored a free kick, before Roberts doubled the lead for the hosts. Charles N’Zogbia replied with his own stunning free kick, but it wasn’t enough to get anything from the game.
