Premier League Match Analysis: Arsenal vs. Aston Villa – Arsenal edge past Villa in nail bitter (Part 2)
The match kicked off with Arsenal showing that they were out there to make amends to the terrible run that they had had over the last two weeks.
In the very first minute right after the kick off, the Gunners had their first chance of the match. The Russian Assassin, Arshavin managed to pounce on some dithering in the Villa area ad pounced onto the loose ball, before feeding the
ball to Marouane Chamakh. The striker did brilliantly to dink the ball over the on rushing Brad Friedel, however the rushing James Collins managed to make it back just in time to clear the ball of the line.
Despite the goal not being scored it appeared like Arsenal were there to prove a point and two minutes later they were back at it.
Luke Young did brilliantly to dispose Arshavin, but then his pass which was played to Alex Song was won by the battling Arsenal holding midfielder who then played a pass to Jack Wilshere. Wilshere then went on to slot a perfectly weighted
pass to Tomas Rosicky, who controlled the ball brilliantly in his stride and then managed to fire a low hard strike. Unfortunately for the player and Arsenal his shot managed to go just wide of the far post, but it seemed like Arsenal were really in it to
win it this time around.
After some constant attacks by Arsenal, Villa managed to get a chance of their own in the twenty fifth minute. Stewart Downing, who has apparently picked up his form once again, managed to get down the right hand flank and cross the ball
towards Ashley Young. Young then managed to flick the ball goal wards, but he managed to just miss the post. However on closer replays it was clearly evident that Young was in an offside position. However it seemed like fortune was with the Gunners for a change
after leaving them stranded for so long.
On the thirty ninth minute, it was Arsenal who managed to get the break through according to the run of play. Both Colllins and Luke Young tired to gather a loose ball in their half, but the long goal kick that Fabianski booted from his
own goal managed to deceive them both, as they ran into each other’s paths. Nonetheless the player didn't get fooled by the kick was Arshavin. The Russian ate up the ground as he zipped towards the ball then managed to run it into the Villa box, before cutting
it out to his right to unleash a thunderous low striker that Friedel couldn't keep out despite getting his hands to it.
That goal was the break through that Arsenal needed to show their dominance in the game and after the goal the team looked to be even more lethal than it was prior to it.
