Premier League Match Analysis: Arsenal vs. Aston Villa – Arsenal edge past Villa in nail bitter (Part 5)
With everyone's nerves about to cave in, the game looked to be one that would be contention for game of the season. However Arsenal somehow managed to bottle their emotions, after suffering a humiliating defeat to Tottenham and seemed
to be learning from their mistakes.
The team showed its maturity as it held onto its lead and managed to go two goals back up in the last minute of stoppage time.
Jack Wilshere was given far too much time and space on the ball and he managed to find Chamkah in the Villa area. The forward then played the ball back to Denilson, but the midfielders shot was blocked and fell back to Chamakh, the Moroccan
hereafter lifted the ball into the path of Wilshere on the far post and the midfielder dove in to convert with his head from close range.
The match finally came to an end with Arsenal the rightful victors on the night and deserved recipients of the three points.
At the end of the night Arshavin was awarded the man of the match award for his brilliant performance. It seemed like the Russian was saving his best for when Arsenal really needed it. With Fabregas out of action the team needed someone
to step it up and Arshavin proved to be just that person.
Arsenal will however now need to carry on with this same form if they hope to overthrow United, who are now the new league leaders.
Had Arsenal managed not to throw away silly points over the course of recent weeks, then the Gunners would have been on top of the Premier League table with a good seven point advantage.
However what Arsenal really have it going for them this time around is the depth to their squad. In the game against Villa alone, Arsenal had Theo Walcoot, Robin Van Persie and Nickalas Bendtner all available on the bench, this just goes
to prove that perhaps the time for the Gunners to end their trophy less drought is finally here.
