Premier League Match Analysis: Arsenal vs. Fulham – Nasri magic puts Fulham to bed (Part 1)
Arsenal were looking to take on Fulham in what was going to be a highly contested match for a number of reasons. Fulham under Mark Hughes have become a team that is more than well known for its ability to draw games hence it was expected that they would
be looking to do the same against Arsenal. The main reason behind that was what they believed in and that was beating Arsenal at Emirates.
However Arsenal themselves were struggling going in the game. Despite having beaten Aston Villa this past weekend by a score line of four goals to two, there was still some trouble in the Arsenal camp and the main problem the team had was the fact that Cesc
Fabregas, the team’s captain, was out due to a hamstring injury. Hence forth he is now a major doubt for the Manchester United clash. At the same time Arsenal were looking not to tire themselves in the game, as they had a mid week Champions League clash, which
happens to be a must win match for the team.
Arsene Wenger had gone on to introduce Tomas Rosicky as a direct replacement for the injured Fabregas and had even handed the Czech international the captain’s armband.
The line ups on the night were as follows:
ARSENAL: Fabianski, Sagna, Koscielny, Squillaci, Clichy, Song, Wilshere, Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin, Chamakh.
Subs: Szczesny, van Persie, Walcott, Denilson, Djourou, Gibbs, Bendtner
FULHAM: Schwarzer, Pantsil, Hangeland, Hughes, Briggs, Davies, Murphy, Etuhu, Dempsey, Gera, Kamara.
Subs: Stockdale, Kelly, Baird, Andrew Johnson, Duff, Eddie Johnson, Greening
Another factor that was looking to play its part in the game was the fact that Arsenal could potentially sky rocket Chelsea and United and go to the top of the Premier League table; if they did happen to pick up a win on the night.
With both the teams on the pitch it was a wait for the referees whistle and the match was underway, on a cold chilly evening in North London.
