Premier League Match Analysis: Arsenal vs. Fulham – Nasri magic puts Fulham to bed (Part 2)
From the very first minute in the match, Arsenal were looking to dominate the game. The team managed to go on and create their first real chance at the sixth minute. Jack Wilshere a player who had gone on from being a young unknown to the future of England,
played Andrei Arshavin on and the player unleashed a shot, but Mark Schwarzer managed to hurl himself towards the ball just in time to prevent the goal from being scored.
After the first chance Arsenal continued to dominate possession. The team was stringing together countless passes, while Fulham were finding it close to impossible to contain Arsenal.
On the thirteenth minute, Marouane Chamakh slid through a ball for Arshavin, who then went on to find Samir Nasri, but the midfielder’s shot went well wide, despite everyone thinking that he was sure to score from there.
However a minute later Nasri managed to break the deadlock and make up for his missed effort. Hughes played a poor touch in his area and as a result, Arshavin managed to retrieve the ball. The midfielder then slipped Nasri on side from the edge of the box
and then Nasri began to show his class. The player danced his way past two challenges and after beating both defenders for dead, he thumped a shot into the top right of the goal with his left foot and as a result scored one of the goals of the season along
with Arsenal's first in the night.
After the opening goal, Arsenal continued to dominate possession and it seemed like Fulham had no response for the Gunners onslaught.
However in the thirtieth minute, all of that seemed to change. Dempsey received the ball on the edge of the box and after Koscielny and Squillaci managed to collide their heads, the player went on to play Kamra on. The forward then had the simplest task
of slipping the ball past Fabianski and that's just what he did and as a result, Fulham had the equalizing goal on the night.
However after the goal, it became clear that Koscielny had suffered more than a serious knock to his head and the player was out of it for a couple of minutes. The player after being looked at by the team's physiotherapist was stretchered off the pitch as
he was not able to continue with the game.
Arsenal were however once again back at it right after the goal from Fulham and were looking to score another goal, before going into the half time break. However thanks to some heroics by Friedel that goal did not come and as a result at the end of the
first forty five minutes, the score was level at one goal apiece and Fulham were easily the happier team.
