United made their intentions very clear as they opened the scoring on the night, just two minutes into the game. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 whipped in a cross that was flicked on by John O'Shea. The loose ball was then nodded into the back of
the net by Berbatov, who happened to be present at the right spot.
The Bulgarian was at it once again, as he found the back of the net in the 31st
minute for the second time. Rooney charged towards the Birmingham back-line, before slipping a ball onto Berbatov. The striker then took a brilliant first touch to set himself up to smack a shot into the back of the net.
However, just when it looked like the half was going to end, United found the back of the net for the third time.
Berbatov did brilliantly to slide in on Murphy and tuck the ball away. The forward then played some brilliant passes with Rooney, who curled in a brilliant grounded cross to the far post. On the far post, was none other than Ryan
Giggs, who smashed the ball into the back of the net.
In the 53rd minute, Berbatov had his third and United's fourth goal of the game. Van Der Sar knocked forward a long clearance which floated all the way to Rooney. Rooney then played on Giggs once again, who whipped another
deadly cross into the area. Berbatov was once again the man at hand to slide in and place the ball into the back of the net.
The Red Devils last goal on the night came via Luis Nani. The winger who had been rather quite throughout the game cut the ball to his left foot some 25 yards from goal and then zipped a low shot into the far post. As a result,
United had their fifth and last goal of the game scored in the 76th minute.
