The early minutes of the game saw both sides trying to get a hold of each other and trying to develop a smooth rhythm in the game.
In the 20th minute of the game, Carroll soared in the air and went on to head an effort towards the top corner of the goal. Szczesny was up to challenge as he went on to palm the ball away and deny Arsenal from conceding a goal early on.
In the 23rd minute, Liverpool attacked the Gunners once again as Kuyt and Enrique combined. Kuyt then went on to cross the ball into the Arsenal area and Henderson was quickest to the ball, but just couldn’t get enough power on his effort to beat
the keeper.
In the 31st minute, Frimpong picked up a loose ball in the middle of the park and sprinted towards the Liverpool goal. He then went on to whip in a brilliant effort some twenty yards from goal and forced Reina to get down on full stretch to parry
the ball away and deny Liverpool from conceding.
In the 35th minute, Samir Nasri picked up the ball in the Gunners half of the pitch. He then went on to dance his way all the way to the Liverpool area and then went on to smack a shot, which sailed just inches wide of the mark.
Soon after the first half came to an end and both Liverpool and Arsenal were locked in at nil all.
