Following the break, both teams stepped out onto the pitch, with all three points yet to play for. The Gunners seemed to be willing to go all out to land the points, while Liverpool were just basing their performance on half chances.
In the 54th minute, Adam tired to play on Carroll with a through ball. The forward then passed the ball to Kelly, whose effort bounced off, of the outside of the post.
In the 68th minute, Arshavin shoved Kelly off the ball inside the Liverpool area and then played on Van Persie. The forward pulled the trigger, but just couldn’t get enough power on his shot to beat Reina with that effort.
In the 70th minute, Frimpong was shown a second yellow card for a lunge on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 and as a result, was given his marching orders.
In the 77th minute, Vermaelen went very close to scoring as he darted his way into the Liverpool half and then struck a pile driver from some thirty yards out.
In the 78th minute, Suarez and Meireles combined in the Arsenal area, but Miquel went on to clear the ball, only to see it bounce off Ramsey and float into the back of the net. As a result, Arsenal were now down by a goal to nil, via an own goal.
In stoppage time, Lucas played on Meireles, who then went on to square the ball to Suarez, to go on and tap the ball into the back of the net.
As a result of that second goal, the Gunners were now down by two goals and had lost to Liverpool at home for the first time in ten years.
