http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 played host to Newcastle United at the Emirates, as the Gunners looked to try and claim all three points against their opponents, in an attempt to climb closer to the top four.
Newcastle had just lost to Manchester United in their previous outing, and this was going to propel the team to come in fighting even harder in the game against Arsenal.
However, with both the teams looking to go all out, the fans were bound to witness a rather decent game of football, should both the teams have performed to the best of their abilities.
The match kicked off with Arsenal scoring the opening goal of the game. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 who went on to dart forward and beat all his markers. The attacker then cut the ball onto his right and curled
a brilliant finish past the keeper and into the back of the net.
The goal came in the 20th minute of the game, and with former Gunner http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thierry-Henry-c34918 watching from the stands, it was hard not to see the similarity in that goal and the way Henry used to regularly score for the Gunners.
Before the half came to an end, Newcastle were awarded a free kick in a very dangerous area. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 stepped up to take the kick, as he felt he could help get his side back in the game.
The striker bent his effort around the wall, but his shot managed to catch Wilshere on the head. With Szczesny going the other way prior to the deflection, the ball managed to fly into the back of the net, with the keeper failing to get back in time to keep
the ball out.
As a result, the first half of the game ended on a rather bad note for Arsenal, who had managed to stay ahead of their opponents for over twenty minutes prior to that deflected goal.
