Arsenal played host to Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates in the North London derby, as both teams looked to pick up all three points from the game, in order to get the most out of their season.
Tottenham were sitting in the third spot in the league table and needed the three points to maintain the pressure on the top two teams, while ensuring their stay in the top four.
On the other hand, Arsenal were down on their luck going into the game and really needed the win to get a confidence boost, while maintaining the pressure on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, as they looked to take over the last remaining Champions League spot.
Having already lost to Tottenham in the same fixture last season, the Gunners were bound to get the most out of the game and teach their rivals a lesson.
The match kicked off with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 falling apart early on, as the visitors kept bombarding forward and created chances for themselves.
In the 5th minute, Tottenham took the very early lead, as Luis Saha went on to score the opening goal of the game. Arsenal’s back four were split wide open and Saha was played a brilliant pass by Adebayor. The French forward then took a pop at
goal, but saw his effort deflect off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002 and float over Szczesny and into the back of the net.
Tottenham then doubled their lead in the 33rd minute, as Adebayor went on to slide home a penalty with ease. There was a lot of controversy in the spot kick being awarded, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 seemed to pull off a blatant dive in order to win the referees
decision.
Just when it seemed like Arsenal would be in for another one of those games, the team managed to turn things around.
Van Persie took a pop at goal, but saw his effort come back of the post. The ball was then played to Arteta, who lofted a cross into the box with his left foot. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bacary-Sagna-c7148 was the quickest to the ball and the full back darted forward and thumped the ball
past the keeper and into the back of the net with ease.
