Premier League Match Report: Liverpool 1 vs 1 Manchester City – Part 2
The second half of the game kicked off in a far more tame manner, as both the teams were looking for the other to slip up, in order to capitalize on the situation, instead of launching an attack of their own.
However, with neither side doing much, Liverpool decided to apply some pressure on their opponents, as they looked to try and take City by surprise.
In the 67th minute of the game, a corner was played to Downing at the edge of the area and he went on to volley the ball goal wards. His effort bounced off the floor and looked to be dipping into the goal at the very last minute. However, Hart
managed to produce another fine save at the last minute, as he kept City level with Liverpool in the game.
Adam took a free kick at goal in the 78th minute and after the ball took a lot of deflection it fell to Skrtel in a very favourable position. However, the defender couldn’t convert his chance and hence a glorious opportunity went begging.
Things went from bad to worse for City in the 83rd minute, as Italian goal scoring machine, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 was shown a red card. The striker collided with Skrtel and the referee felt that his challange was rash enough to earn his a second yellow
card. The decision seemed a little harsh, but resulted in the striker walking into the tunnel, as he left City with just ten players to play out the remainder of the game.
In the 88th minute, Suarez took a shot at goal and Hart once again went on to produce a miracle save to deny the Reds from taking the lead in the game.
Just a minute before the clock struck ninety, Dzeko played Silva on, on the edge of the Liverpool area. The Spaniard went on to move around Reina, but couldn’t get his shot off in time, as Skrtel tracked back and blocked the ball off the line.
