http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 played host to Arsenal at home, as the Reds looked to pick up a win against the Gunners.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 had not scored a single goal in their opening two games, but at the same time, the team had also not conceded a single goal so far in the league.
However, despite that fact the match was looking to be a highly contested one between the two sides.
The match kicked off rather slowly, with both the teams looking to take hold of possession, instead of attacking each other.
In the 30th minute, Arsenal went on to break the dead lock, as Podolski scored for the Gunners. Cazorla ran forward with the ball and with Giroud making a dummy run, the path was clear for Podolski to charge at goal. Cazorla played the ball to
the German, who calmly slotted his shot into the back of the net.
Four minutes before the end of the half, the Gunners had another chance of scoring. Diaby went on to play a delightful pass which sent Giroud clean on goal.
Despite the brilliant pass, the striker failed to get his effort on target and sent his shot wide of the mark.
In the second half, things got a whole lot more interesting. Both the teams kept attacking each other and both the sides looked like they could score a goal at any point in the game.
There was a penalty appeal from Liverpool in the 51st minute, as Suarez went down in the box. Even though the striker made most of the contact in the box, the referee wasn’t buying into his claims and waved play on.
Arsenal then went on to build from there, as they kept creating some brilliant passing movements.
Then in the 68th minute, the team went on to score their second goal of the match. There was some brilliant passing play by the Gunners in the midfield, which saw the ball fall to Cazorla. The Spaniard then played a 1-2 with Podolski and took
a pop at goal from an acute angle. His effort hit Reina and slipped into the back of the net.
As a result the Gunners went up by two goals to nil.
Following that chance, the match died down, but the Gunners managed to hold onto their lead and picked up all three points from the game.
