Liverpool went on to play host to Aston Villa at Anfield, as the Reds were looking to try and find their way back into the top four.
The team had been doing rather decently in recent weeks, and this is why they felt that they were more than likely to pick up all three points against the Villas.
However, with Aston Villa also looking to remedy their poor form, this match was going to be decide on the basis of who wanted to win it more.

Despite that fact, it was the visiting side that went on to score the opening goal of the game.
Benteke found himself in space some twenty two yards from the Liverpool goal. The attacker then went on to take a pop at goal from distance and out of nowhere he gave his side the lead in the 27th minute of the game.
Before the half came to an end, Villa went on to score another goal to extend their lead in the game. Weimann went on to combine with Benteke before being released clean on goal. He then went on to slam a finish under the Liverpool keeper, as he gave his
side a two goals to nil lead in the thirty seventh minute.
The second half proved to be similar to the first, as Liverpool attacked Villa early on, but it was Benteke who went on to score for Villa.
The striker went on waltz his way through the Liverpool defenders and in the 50th minute, he went on to score his second goal of the game, and Villa’s third.
The Reds got a consolation goal for themselves in the 88th minute, as Gerrard scored for Liverpool. Johnson took a shot at goal, but the Liverpool captain went on to deflect the ball into the back of the net.
Nonetheless, despite that late goal, Villa went on to claim a very easy three points from the game, in a match where Benteke looked to be a man on fire.
