Premier League Match Report – Liverpool vs Sunderland – Part 1
After what seemed like eternity, the Premier League finally got back underway, as Liverpool played host to Sunderland at Anfield.
Both the sides had made a number of signings during the summer transfer window and were looking to field most of their new signings.
The match kicked off with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 taking the game to Sunderland. In just the 6th minute, Luis Suarez burst into the Sunderland area and was taken out by Richardson. The referee had no option but to show the defender a yellow card and award Liverpool
a penalty.
Suarez stepped up to take the resulting spot kick, but sent his effort over the bar. As a result the game was level at nil all.
In the 12th minute, Charlie Adam went on to curl in a brilliant free-kick, which was met by the head of the charging Suarez, as he guided an effort into the back of the net via his head.
In the 21st minute, Adam once again went on to play a great ball to Andy Carroll. The striker went on to smash the ball into the back of the net, but his goal was disallowed, as he pushed a Sunderland defender before taking the shot.
In the 33rd minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 went on to produce a moment of magic, as he danced his way through the Sunderland defence, he then went on to smack an effort goal wards, only to see it bounce back off the post.
In the 45th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728 went on slide in on Gyan with a very late tackle. The challenge looked to be a rather rash one and nearly injured the Sunderland striker. As a result the Liverpool defender was shown a yellow card for his efforts.
The first half of the game soon came to an end, with Liverpool going into the first half with a one goal lead, all thanks to the brilliance of Adam and Suarez.
