Premier League Match Report: Manchester City vs Aston Villa – Part 1
Manchester City played host to Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, in what was both the teams first game after the international break.
Given that a number of City players participated in the international break, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 opted to give his star players a rest and chose amongst the younger players at the club to start for the team.
The manager handed starts to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Milner-c17706 as the attacking midfielder for the team.
The match kicked off with Villa trying to surprise City early on, as they took the game to their opponents. In the 11th minute of the game, Agbonlahor sprinted forward and saw an effort get blocked by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699. The keeper however managed to deflect
the ball into the path of Warnock, who volleyed the ball towards the goal. Kompany managed to produce a fine save, as he used his head to deflect the ball behind and prevent his side from conceding an early goal.
In the 15th minute, Yaya Toure dashed forward and pulled a ball towards Balotelli. The striker tried to hit a shot towards the far post, but managed to see his effort sail wide of the mark. Milner, who thought he was in an offside position tried
to back heel the ball anyway, only to see his effort come off the post. The midfielder was then given another shock as he found out that he wasn’t actually offside in the first place.
In the 28th minute, City broke the deadlock and it was none other than Balotelli who opened the scoring for the team. After a corner was whipped in, the ball fell towards the striker. He had little time to react as the ball lofted over his head,
but managed to kick the ball via an overhead effort.
As a result, City went into the half time break with the one goal lead, but looking to be the more threatening of the two sides.
