Premier League Match Report: Manchester United vs Wigan Athletic – Part 1
Manchester United played host to Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford, as the Red Devils looked to close in the gap that Manchester City had created on top of the league table.
However, things weren’t going to be easy for United, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282 as a centre back in the game.
On the other hand, Wigan were looking to go all out in their game, as they desperately needed the three points and were looking to capitalize on United’s squad selection.
Despite the changes that were made to United’s squad, the team went on to kick things off with a bang, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Park-Ji-Sung-c29147 went on to score the first goal of the game in the 8th minute.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 made an overlapping run forward and then played the ball towards the midfielder. Park then went on to strike the ball cleanly, as he sent it crashing into the back of the net.
In the 28th minute, Moses went on to use his quick feet to create space in front of goal, before attempting a shot at goal. However, despite his quick feet, he couldn’t get his shot past Evans, who made a crucial interception to keep the ball
from landing in the back of the net.
Ten minutes later, the referee went on to show Sammon a straight red. The forward was mixing it up with Carrick and his hand went on to brush the United player in the head. The tap on the head, if anything was unintentional and deserved nothing more than
a yellow. However, the referee felt like the interaction between the two players was so harsh, that he had to issue a red card for it.
United then went on to use their one man advantage brilliantly and scored another goal before the end of the half.
In the 42nd minute, Gibson played a pass towards Berbatov, who used his sublime touch to control the ball. He then went on to turn around and thump the ball into the back of the net. The goal would have been a whole lot harder to score, had Berbatov
not been able to use his sublime control to stop the ball and create space to shoot the ball.
Soon after, the first half ended with United having a two goal lead over their opponents and a one man advantage.
