Newcastle United played host to Swansea City at the St James’ Park, as they looked to pick up the three points which would help them push back up the league table, in their pursuit to secure Premier League football.
However, with Swansea looking to fire on all cylinders in the game, things weren’t going to be very easy for the team, which meant that this match could go pretty much in any teams favour.
The first half saw both the teams go back and forth, as they both looked to try and get on the score sheet. However, despite all the chances that the team created, they failed to hit the mark with either one of them and as a result, the first half went on
to end in a nil all draw.
The second half, kicked off with Newcastle creating a number of chances for themselves, but despite those chances, it was Swansea who went on to open the scoring in the game.
Krul went on to launch a loose ball, which was picked up by Hernandez. He then went on to run towards the Newcastle defenders, before he played a brilliant cross to Michu. The midfielder managed to arrive just in time to meet the ball and head it into the
back of the net with ease.
Swansea then went on to double their lead just three minutes from time. In the 87th minute, Hernandez played a pass to Graham, who ran into the box and shot at the Newcastle United goal. Krul managed to deflect the ball out of harm’s way, but
it fell into the feet of De Guzman. De Guzman then went on to smash his effort into the net, despite the angle being against him.
The Magpies finally managed to score a consolation goal in stoppage time, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 scored for the home side. Ben Arfa went on to beat his marker, and cut the ball to Marveaux. Marveaux then smacked his effort against the post, but Ba leaped the highest
to meet the rebound and head it into the back of the net.
As a result, Swansea went on to win by two goals to one at the end of the day.
