Premier League Match Report: Queens Park Rangers vs Aston Villa - Part 1
Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 played host to Aston Villa at home, in what was the only game being played on Super Sunday in the Premier League.
Both the teams had, had a pretty average start to their Premier League campaigns and hence, both the teams were looking to get the better of their opponents in the game.
QPR have repeatedly been hailed as the best team out of the three promoted teams, that made it to the Premier League and hence they were being given the nod by the experts to come out on top during the game.
The match kicked off with the home side taking the game to Villa. In just the 6th minute Taarbat came close to scoring the opening goal of the game. He curled in a long range effort, but saw his strike come off, the outside of the post and go
behind for a goal kick.
In the 18th minute, Barton whipped in a brilliant corner, which should have been converted by Borthroyd. However, the QPR player saw his effort sail just wide of the mark.
In the 25th minute, Bothryod played a brilliant cross to the far post. Barton raced towards the ball, but failed to make any significant contact with the ball, as it sailed back into the path of the Villa players.
As the match continued, Villa kept keeping out the home side, who seemed to be working on a maximum. QPR dominated possession and their passing seemed to be amongst the best that the league has seen.
In the 44th minute, just before the end of the half, Villa nearly stole the opening goal of the game. Bannan struck a free kick from some twenty five yards out and send the ball straight towards the goal. It took a full stretch dive from Kenny
to tip the ball and prevent it from crashing into his goal.
Soon after, the first half came to a close, with both the teams being held level at nil all.
