Premier League Match Report: Stoke City 3 vs 1 Blackburn Rovers – Part 1
Stoke City played host to Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at the Britannia Stadium in the Premier League.
Going into the game, both Blackburn an Stoke were looking to pick up all three points from the game, in hopes of propelling themselves a little higher up in the Premier League standings.
However, out of the two teams, it was Blackburn who were in desperate need of the points, given the fact that they were being considered as favourites to be relegated at the end of the season.
With Stoke playing at home, they were going to make this no walk in the park for Blackburn, who would have to fight for the three points if they wanted them.
The game started off with neither side really putting their foot on the gas. Both Stoke and Blackburn seemed to be waiting for their opponents to make a mistake, in order to try and capitalize on it. However, given the way they were playing, some fans even
started to boo both the teams.
Some twenty eight minutes into the game and Stoke finally broke the deadlock as they scored the opening goal of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermaine-Pennant-c18364 went on to bend in a brilliant cross and Delap rose the highest to head the ball into the back of the net. The defender managed to leap up just in time to evade Givet and with the Blackburn player beaten, the keeper had no chance of keeping
the header out.
In the 41st minute, Pedersen whipped in a brilliant corner towards the far post and Dann sent a header across the goal. However, the ball was then defended off the line only for Hoilett to volley the ball off the mark in the same run of play.
Soon after the first half of the game came to an end, as the referee signalled for both teams to head into the half time break. With neither side looking to have played with much conviction in the first half, the second half was destined to provide a much
more entertaining half of football.
