Premier League Match Report: Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa – Part 1
A misfiring Aston Villa travelled to the White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur, in a game that was set to be a tough encounter between the two sides.
Many experts believes that Villa would finally be able to overcome the slum that they had found themselves in, as they made short work of Tottenham and managed to pick up at least a draw from the game.
However, given the fact that Tottenham were playing at home and they were looking to try and close the gap at the top of the league, the chances of them giving up any points easily were slim to none.
As a result, with both sides rearing to go and to prove their worth, the game was being hailed as a must watch.
The match kicked off with Villa taking the gap to Tottenham in the opening few minutes, as they created a great chance in the 2nd minute of the game.
However, as the match progressed there was a shift in the game, as Tottenham started to assert their domination on the game.
In the 15th minute, Van Der Vaart went on to whip in a brilliant cross, which was met by Kaboul. His effort despite being hit with pace and precision got deflected just wide of the mark.
Adebayor went on to open the scoring for Tottenham in the 16th minute, as he volleyed in a loose ball. However, had it not been for some poor defending by the Villa defenders, the goal would have never been scored in the first place.
In the 30th minute, Villa came very close to scoring an equalizing goal in the game. Heskey tried to play on Bent with a through ball, as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international zipped forward. However, Heskey’s pass turned out to be more of a shot and darted
past Bent, who couldn’t get a touch on the ball.
In the 38th minute, there was some more poor work at the back by Villa, which led to another goal for Tottenham. Collins and Given, both managed to misjudge the flight of Bale’s cross, while Adebayor did not. The forward went on to receive the
ball with ease and then slotted it home.
As a result, Tottenham now had the two goals to nil lead, as they looked to head into the half time break with no pressure on their shoulders.
Going into the tunnel, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish seemed to be infuriated with his team, but his poor management had accounted for his side performing as badly as they had been.
