Nonetheless, given the pace at which both the teams had been playing this season, this game was guaranteed to produce moments of brilliance.
The match kicked off with both the teams passing the ball back and forth, but with Tottenham keeping a majority of the possession.
This possession play eventually paid off, as the home side went on to score the first goal of the game in the 8th minute.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 went on to dart down the flank and then bent in a signature cross. Adebayor proved to be the quickest player to react to the delivery and slid the ball into the back of the net.
The goal could have easily been avoided, had Cech been a little sharper and pushed the ball out of harm’s way.
In the 11th minute, Chelsea had a glorious opportunity to go level in the game. Mata shot the ball at goal and Friedel went on to play the ball back into play. Just when it looked like Sturridge would tap the rebound home, he lifted the ball over
the bar.
Sturridge then went on to make up for his mistake, as he drew the visitors level in the 21st minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 made an overlapping run down the left flank and then sent in a cross dead centre of Tottenham’s area. Sturridge was the quickest to
get to the ball and side footed it home.
Before the half ended, the last goal scoring opportunity fell to the feet of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044. The striker went on to control the ball brilliantly and then unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot. His effort beat everyone, including the keeper. However, in the end
it went on to rebound off the post.
As a result, the score remained level at one all, following the miss from Drogba.
For the remainder of the half, both teams dominated possession and played the ball amongst each other. However, neither side created any more goal scoring opportunities and hence the half ended with both the sides being level at one all.
Nonetheless, with both sides eager to claim all three points, they were more than likely to come back after the break with a point to prove.
