Premier League Match Report: Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea – Part 2
The second half kicked off a little slower compared to the first half, but soon after, Chelsea started to get their rhythm right and created a number of goal scoring opportunities.
In the 53rd minute, Drogba played a brilliant through ball to Ramires, who darted towards the goal. However, Freidel read the play and ran out from his goal to deny the midfielder from scoring.
Ramires was once again in the heart of things, as Chelsea nearly scored in the 65th minute. Terry flicked a ball across the goal and it sailed towards Ramires. The Brazilian simply had to connect with the ball to score, but failed to do so.
Following some poor defending by Tottenham, Sturridge was given space to shoot at goal. The striker went on to send a low shot towards the goal, only to see Freidel deny him with a fine diving stop.
Bale had a great opportunity to give his side the lead in the 82nd minute, as he received a pass from Modric. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international went on to send his effort well over the bar, when all he had to do was keep his effort on target.
In the 85th minute, Juan Mata bent in a brilliant free kick. Ramires had another opportunity to head the ball into the back of the net, but the midfielder failed to connect with the ball properly and sent his effort wide from some eight yards
out.
Had the midfielder scored, Chelsea would have easily taken home the three points given the time left in the game.
Romeo tried to make a name for himself in the 88th minute, as he went on to shoot at goal. His effort sailed just wide of the mark, but from the way he struck the ball, it seemed quite unlikely for it to land in the back of the net.
